Members of the USC Flute Studio present a musical soundscape to the museum exhibit “A Compass to Guide; South Carolina Cabinetmakers Today.” The encounter with any artistic form offers an alternative portal into a collective understanding of culture and history. Just like cabinetmakers worked to supply their surrounding communities with furniture and implements needed in everyday life, musicians bring communities together for entertainment. The concert highlights various elements of the artisans’ works, including the element of wood, and presents musical styles from four centuries.
